Henderson Beach State Park Campground Review

If you want to enjoy the award winning emerald coast waters near Destin Florida but aren’t big into the tourism of the area, this is the place for you.

Henderson Beach State Park is a little oasis in the heart of a bustling city. When you enter through the gates of Henderson, it feels like you are entering another separate area.

There is lots of wildlife, vegetation, and a private stretch of pristine white sand beach!

About the campground

This campground is located right in the heart of Destin, a great reprieve from the hustle and bustle of the city. There is a beautiful bike path and boardwalk that goes straight to the private “campers” beach. This beach is separate from the beach where park visitors go.

Every campsite has a picnic table, fire pit, and a drying line.

There are 2 bath houses for 60 sites.

Each bath house has 2 showers and 2 sets of laundry machines.

The bathhouse is a little bit dated, and it can get a bit humid inside.

There is a playground and nature trail a bike ride away.

There is one dump station for the whole campground.

Cell service was ok, we didn’t have any issues and we were able to use our hotspot just fine. Wifi was located at both bathhouses. I could even get a Wifi signal from the campsite during most of the day.

Henderson Beach State Campground is a very highly sought after campground and we can see why! I loved being away from the busyness of Destin but still able to enjoy the pristine award winning beach! Henderson books out very quickly.

You are able reserve a site 11 months in advance. For tips on how to book a site at this campground, be sure to watch my YouTube video below where I share a tip on how to book a site at the end!

My honest review of Henderson Beach State Park Campground in Destin, FL is that it was amazing for relaxing and beach sitting, but not much else. If you are looking to relax on the beach for days at a time, then this is the place for you! Enjoy watching beautiful sunsets right on the Gulf of Mexico at Henderson Beach State Park Campground with your loved ones. They were hard to beat.

I definitely feel like Henderson is one of the best Florida State Parks for camping.
