Honest Timbernook Review | Outdoor Play Program

As a parent, you want your children to have the best experiences possible, especially when it comes to their education and development. For this reason, I want to share with you my children’s experience with the outdoor play program and give you an honest Timbernook review.

Timbernook is a nature-based program that offers outdoor play experiences for children aged 18 months to 12 years old. It is designed for parents who want to provide their children with a unique and enriching outdoor experience that would allow them to learn and grow in a natural environment.

My children attended Timbernook all of last year during our first year of homeschooling, and I am going to share with you the things my children have learned and experienced through Timbernook.

Pros to Timbernook

Independence and Self-Confidence

Timbernook encourages children to explore and play freely in the natural environment. They are given the opportunity to make their own choices and decisions, which helps them develop a sense of independence and self-confidence.

My children have learned how to assess risks and make decisions based on their own capabilities, which has helped them become more self-reliant.

Creativity and Imagination

Timbernook is all about imaginative play. Children are encouraged to create their own stories, build structures, and engage in role-playing activities.

My children have come home with countless stories about the adventures they’ve had and the things they’ve built. They’ve learned how to use their imaginations to create their own fun and to see the world in a new way.

Social Skills and Teamwork

Timbernook provides a unique environment for children to learn social skills and teamwork. The program is designed to encourage children to work together to solve problems, share ideas, and support each other.

My children have made new friends and learned how to communicate effectively with others. They’ve also learned how to collaborate and work together to achieve a common goal.

Nature Awareness and Appreciation

Timbernook is a nature-based program, so it’s no surprise that children learn a lot about the natural world.

My children have developed a deeper appreciation for nature and have learned how to be responsible stewards of the earth.

Cons to Timbernook

While my children have had a wonderful experience with Timbernook, we have decided not to return for another year. One of the main reasons is that Timbernook requires a year-long commitment, which can be challenging for our family’s schedule. We travel south for the winter and are gone for months at a time.

A necessary evil while living up here in New Hampshire is that it gets super cold. While they enjoyed the outdoor activities, there were some days when the weather was very cold. You have to be sure you have the right layers and gear for them to stay warm!

Next year we are opting for a different local program that goes beyond play and teaches more outdoor skills. We are excited for this new learning opportunity!

Final Thoughts

Overall, we have had a positive experience with Timbernook and would recommend it to other families looking for an outdoor play program. However, we have decided to explore other options that may better suit our family’s needs and schedule.

Timbernook has been an incredible experience for my children. They truly had a blast and made some great friendships along the way. If you’re looking for a unique and enriching outdoor play program for your children, I highly recommend Timbernook.
