I have lived in many different places in my life, and New Hampshire is my favorite one! Spending 3 days in New Hampshire will definitely make you fall in love too.

Whether you’re a nature enthusiast, history buff, or a foodie looking for culinary delights, you’ll find great adventure during your 3 days in New Hampshire

In this guide, we’ll explore some of the must-visit destinations, including the stunning Franconia Notch area and the charming Seacoast region. So, let’s get started on my favorite parts of the Granite State and make the most of your limited time here.

Day 1: Exploring the Seacoast

Kickstart your 3 days in New Hampshire by immersing yourself in the breathtaking beauty of the Seacoast area. 

Morning: Portsmouth’s Historic District

Start your day with a visit to Portsmouth, a historic coastal town brimming with character. Stroll through the charming streets of the Historic District, where you’ll find cobblestone lanes, colonial architecture, and a vibrant arts scene. 

Be sure to explore Market Square and sample some locally roasted coffee from one of the quaint cafes.

Lunch: Downtown Portsmouth Eatery

For lunch, choose one of the amazing award winning eateries in downtown Portsmouth.

Eating lunch in downtown Portsmouth is a delightful experience. The historic streets are lined with charming cafes and restaurants offering a diverse culinary scene. 

Enjoy fresh seafood by the waterfront or savor artisanal sandwiches while immersing yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of this coastal gem.

Afternoon: Odiorne Point State Park

After lunch, take a short drive to Odiorne Point State Park. This coastal gem offers walking trails, rocky shorelines, and a fascinating history center.

Explore the tide pools, and don’t miss the opportunity to learn about the region’s maritime history.

Be sure to walk along the coast to find a local’s secret spot – Periwinkle cove where there are hundreds of cairns! Be sure to take lots of pictures!

Evening: Sunset at Great Island Commons

End your day with a visit to Great Island Commons in Newcastle, a serene spot for watching the sun dip below the horizon. 

The beautiful park provides an idyllic backdrop for a peaceful evening stroll. It’s the perfect way to unwind during your 3 days in New Hampshire.

Day 2: Franconia Notch Adventures

On your second day, we’ll venture north, where historic towns and beautiful landscapes await. 

This region, located in the heart of the White Mountains, offers a plethora of outdoor activities and natural wonders to explore. When I first drove up interstate 93 I was blown away.

You will be in awe at the way that the sunlight hits the mountains in the notch, it will take your breath away too!

Morning: The Flume Gorge

Begin your day with a visit to the Flume Gorge. It’s a remarkable natural wonder featuring a narrow gorge, waterfalls, and lush forests. 

A well-maintained boardwalk takes you through the gorge, providing spectacular views of the surrounding cliffs and cascading waters. 

Don’t forget your camera, as this is a prime spot for capturing the beauty of 3 days in New Hampshire.

Lunch: Franconia Village

After your hike, head to the nearby Franconia Village for a delightful lunch. Try a cozy local café for a hearty bowl of clam chowder or a classic lobster roll. Enjoy your meal in the charming New England atmosphere of Franconia.

Afternoon: Cannon Mountain Aerial Tramway

For a truly unforgettable experience, ride the Cannon Mountain Aerial Tramway in the afternoon. The tramway takes you to the summit of Cannon Mountain, where panoramic views of the White Mountains and Franconia Notch await. 

The scenic views are especially breathtaking during the fall foliage season. This is a must-visit attraction during your 3 days in New Hampshire.

Wrap up your first day in Franconia Notch with a serene evening at Artists Bluff. This is a fairly quick hike that has amazing lookouts.

Day 3: Exploring North Conway and the White Mountains

For your final day in New Hampshire, we’ll head to the enchanting North Conway area, nestled in the heart of the White Mountains on the other side of the scenic Kancamagus Highway. Prepare for a day of outdoor adventures and natural wonders.

Morning: Hike Cathedral Ledge

Begin your day with a thrilling hike to Cathedral Ledge. This iconic granite cliff offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding White Mountains and the Saco River Valley. 

The trail to the summit is moderately challenging, but the reward of sweeping vistas makes it well worth the effort. Capture the beauty of the landscape, and feel the exhilaration of being atop one of the region’s most famous landmarks.

You can also drive up the ledge if you don’t want to hike it!

Lunch: North Conway Village

After your hike, make your way to North Conway Village for a delightful lunch. 

This charming village is known for its quaint shops, inviting cafes, and a welcoming atmosphere. Try a local eatery for a hearty meal or grab a gourmet sandwich to enjoy in one of the village’s picturesque parks.

Afternoon: Diana’s Baths

In the afternoon, journey to Diana’s Baths, a serene natural attraction just a short drive from North Conway. 

This series of cascading waterfalls and pools is surrounded by lush forest, creating a peaceful and picturesque setting. Take a leisurely hike to reach Diana’s Baths and immerse yourself in the soothing sound of the cascading water. 

It’s a refreshing oasis amidst the beauty of the White Mountains.
